What a Florida cosmetology license covers

These items are written so the wrong answer is the helpful one. A client asks what something is, or asks you to remove it, and the response that feels kind is the practice of medicine. The boundary is the same every time, and once you see it the questions stop being hard.

Where the point is lost: Watch the softer versions of the same act. Confirming what the client already suspects is diagnosing. Passing along a home remedy is treating. Suggesting she stop a medication is far outside anything a cosmetology license touches. The professional answer is not "I don't know" — it is that only a physician can identify it, said plainly, followed by a referral and by leaving the area alone.
